Eligibility criteria for free contraception:

Requirement 1.

You’re a person with a uterus.

Requirement 2.

You’re aged between 17 and 35.

Requirement 3.

You’re living in Rep. of Ireland.

Requirement 4.

You’ve a PPS number (PPSN).

  • Logynon is a combined oral contraceptive pill primarily used to prevent pregnancy. It also helps regulate periods, reduce menstrual cramps and may improve certain skin conditions like acne.

  • Logynon contains synthetic hormones that prevent ovulation, thicken cervical mucus to block sperm and alter the womb lining to prevent implantation.

  • You take one pill daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break. During the break, you’ll usually have a withdrawal bleed, similar to a period.

  • If you miss a pill, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s more than 12 hours late, follow the missed pill instructions in the leaflet, as backup contraception may be needed.

  • Yes, many women find their periods become lighter, shorter and less painful while taking Logynon regularly.

  • Some users may experience nausea, breast tenderness, mood changes or spotting between periods. These effects often settle within a few months.

  • Not always. It’s not recommended for smokers over 35, or people with certain medical conditions such as blood clots or migraines with aura. Always consult us first.

  • No, Logynon does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. Using condoms alongside the pill is advised for protection.

  • Many women take the pill for years with no issues, but it’s important to have regular check-ups to make sure it’s still the right choice for you.

  • Fertility usually returns quickly after stopping Logynon, and most women can conceive within a few months, although this varies from person to person.
